More on what it’s all about:

The Power to the Peaceful Festival has become a premiere San Francisco tradition in its eleventh year and  is one of the largest free annual music, art and action sports events in the US with over 70,000 attendees, 200 exhibitors, vendors, international musicians, DJs, athletes, artists and speakers.

The Power to the Peaceful Festival (PTTP) is a fun, educational, hip, diverse and family oriented event with International Musicians on the main stage, a DJ tent, open-air art gallery, eco village, social justice forum, green vendors and food booths, and a healing arts tent, as well as a kids zone offering arts and crafts, live theater, music, activities and a parade. PTTP has grown from a local community based event to an international destination attracting attendees from Japan, Europe, Australia and South America.

Saturday gets started with “1,000 Yogis for peace” – a two hour practice right on the meadow lawn in front of the main stage.

Bringing some music and dance to the event will be Cherine Anderson, Sly and Robbie, and locals Michael Franti + Spearhead.  There will also be a ‘kids zone stage’, so it could be fun for the little ones too. This all takes place throughout the day along with plenty of other activities including more music from other bands and DJ’s.  The evening celebration lives on with an after party at The Filmore.

For Sunday Seane Corn and Les Leventhal will be leading separate classes in “The Green Room”, across the hall from the Herbst Theater. Tickets are available at Yoga Tree SF (under workshops)and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Power to the Peaceful Organization. Les shared with us some of his enthusiasm for this event back at Wanderlust with this video interview.

Combine your Yoga with a Brazilian Arts Workshop for a full day of fun:

This year we are very excited to bring you something new to the day’s event – a beginning level Capoeira and Afro-Brazilian dance class.  You will find both these classes to be extremely playful while emphasizing a core focus on RESPECT, FREEDOM, EQUALITY, INTEGRITY, COMMUNITY, EDUCATION and STRENGTH – demonstrating the foundation, purpose and intention of the Power to the Peaceful Festival.

Combined with the amazing and heart opening yoga, you are guaranteed a most beautiful and exciting day.  We hope you will join us!
